The Friends of the Lakefront were formed at the request of the Summer Village of Parkland Beach, in the summer of 2009.

Objectives of The Friends of the Lakefront are to seek stakeholder input and prioritize feedback, prepare short and long-term plans for lakefront improvement projects, pursue grants and funding for the construction and maintenance of approved development, obtain approval from authorities for supported lakefront projects and ensure construction and maintenance of any lakefront projects do not unfairly burden any taxpayer group.
